Here, we try to give you all the information you need to make your mind up about the things that affect you most in terms of TDC’s services, but also give you the opportunity to read our responses to issues of the day and to put your own point of view across, whether it is through a snap poll or posting a message of your own.

Latest News provides you with the hot topics at a local level, which will have an immediate impact on your life or are just over the horizon. There may be many things which will be of little more than passing interest, but, regularly, there will be topics of greater concern to you. In here, you will also find an expanded version of our front page headlines.

We regularly publish and deliver Newsletters to many parts (but not all) of the District. This section is not only an opportunity to read the whole library, but offers the facility to receive future newsletters by e-mail. They are an integral part of publicising our policies and beliefs, but also provide a sample of the work that we are doing throughout Tendring.

Whether in charge or in opposition, Tendring First councillors and representatives will respond to current topics of local importance highlighted in the media by sending letters to the press or issuing press releases. Sometimes, these do not get published, but they are still pertinent to the debate, hopefully putting a balance on what has already been reported. This is all done in an effort to help keep you better informed about matters which affect you, your family and your friends.
The majority of local services are provided by two councils, Tendring and Essex. Council Watch not only attempts to keep an eye on the performance of the corporate bodies, but also puts a magnifying glass to some of the individuals who are running them, if only to ensure that they practice what they preach.

Many people feel (with more than a little justification) that politicians only listen to them when it comes to election time. Your Say attempts to change that, giving each and everyone the opportunity to express their views on anything and everything throughout the four year electoral cycle. Clearly, it has to be printable, but, as far as possible, we shall publish as much as possible without censorship….. even views that disagree with our own !!

Why ? Because we don’t think we have all the answers, but we know we have to start somewhere. Genuine, constructive criticism has to be welcomed if we are going to make genuine, constructive improvement to our area. However, those with a soap box of their own have plenty of opportunities elsewhere if they don’t want to follow that ethos.
