As you’d expect, we are very much focused on the present and the future. We feel it does not pay to dwell on the past, only learn from it. However, there is no doubt that there is curiosity in some quarters about our origins, why things happened and what brought us to where we are today. 

 

To answer some, if not all of those questions and to give a better understanding of much more recent events, our first section deals with the History of Tendring First. Then we try to give a flavour of Who We Are, the people behind your local independent party, who are committed to serving their communities without the need to bow to regional or national politics. 

 

Inevitably, we have had to agree Policies that we can all support and it is only right that we should lay them out for everyone to judge for themselves whether they can support them too. We have some confidence that they are the right policies and that we have proposed the right way to carry them out, if only as evidenced by the strong support that we received for them in recent elections. Having said that, we always stand ready to be corrected ! 

 

Once again, we lay out the facts of where we gained and where we lost in the 2007 and 2009 local elections to demonstrate that Tendring First is, like many other independent groups around the country, a credible, viable and modern political alternative to the greatly discredited, 20th Century national parties. 

 

There is undoubtedly a lot that has gone on in the last four years, but, as mentioned above, there is a danger of becoming preoccupied with the past and not paying attention to the present and the future. Recognising that, but also that there is sometimes a need to put the record straight, the Archive section seeks to address that. This is also the area where, over time, data from other parts of this website will be stored.
